This work is devoted to the problem of particularities of informal subcultures where you can find different definitions of the word, subculture; the division of subcultures, the history of background of different subcultures, characteristic features of such subcultures as: goth, hippie, beatnics, skinheads, punks. This work can be recommended to those teachers, which use at their lessons the textbook "English — 10-11" by Kuzovlev and Lapa.
